Great Bustard Tour day tour

The Great Bustard, one of the world's heaviest flying birds, inhabits a huge area of uniform countryside in the Baixo Alentejo and can sometimes be difficult to see unless you know where to look. Other species that can be found include (according to season) Black-bellied Sandgrouse, Calandra Lark, Lesser Kestrel, Griffon Vulture, Spanish Imperial Eagle and Little Bustard.

Flamingo Tour 1/2 day tour

Flamingos can be found in the Ria Formosa and Castro Marim areas more or less throughout the year but they are harder to find during the summer months when the majority have left Portugal. Sometimes they can easily be seen in large numbers with no more than a short walk. We can also expect to see Spoonbills and a selection of wading birds according to season.

Our aim is to take bird lovers and birding enthusiasts on outings to see as many of our local birds as possible.

We believe that small groups are essential for a high quality and enjoyable experience. Unless otherwise noted, our land tour groups have a single leader with 4 to 8 people and two leaders with 9 to 12 people. The minimun number of travellers in each trip is four and the usual maximun number is 7 plus the guide.

ECO-BIRDWATCHING TOURS

We pride ourselves in the personal attention we give in all aspects of tour planning, route design, accommodation and the service we give to all our clients. The tours have been selected to appeal to all tastes

Tours may cover several different habitats dependent on season and tides - salinas, saltmarsh, hills, steppe grasslands and woodlands. These tours are specifically designed for beginners and those who like to learn and have fun while birdwatching. We will pick you up from your accommodation or a meeting point agreed on booking. Free loan of binoculars if necessary.
What to bring: stout shoes for walking,
waterproofs, picnic, drinks and snack, note book.

We organize all ground travel using safe minibuses. We arrange strategic rest stops during travel to break up the trips and give you the optimal, diverse birding experience.

These are the great and often very unique species that we will be looking for. We cannot guarantee that we will see them, only that there is a good chance of seeing them. Beyond these exciting species, we are always on the look out for other surprises-you just never know what we may see!
